In partnership with our local Laborers' Union, Phipps employs laborers to perform primary tasks requiring physical labor at construction sites. The Laborer reports to the Laborer Foreman. Tasks may include, but are not limited to:
Clear, excavate, fill, backfill, grade/landscape and perform skilled/unskilled labor as needed
Assist in demolition or dismantling of buildings and various structures
Perform watchman duties, including flagman, garbage and debris handler, dump man, fire watch and tending of heaters and pumps
Perform general cleanup, including sweeping, cleaning and wiping of construction site or facility, washroom, equipment and furnishings, removal and loading of all debris
Function as signal person for various construction work
Move, clean, oil and carry forms to next point of erection
Snap wall ties and remove tie rods; handle, place and operate nozzle, hoses and pots or hoppers on sandblasting or other abrasive cleaning
Operate equipment such as skid loaders, forklifts and winches
Prepare, handle and convey materials whether by hand or any other process
Help age and cure concrete, mortar or other materials
Prepare foundations or mud sills for scaffolds. Build, plank or install and remove staging and swinging scaffolds. Maintain and dismantle scaffolds.
Complete tasks in safe manner and in full compliance with safety policies and procedures
Assist with other duties as needed
Experience: Construction experience preferred, but not required. (All Laborer employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of background checks, drug screen and pre-employment physical.)
